Shine On!

In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father (Matthew 5:16 NLT).

Your testimony:

The word translated “good” in this verse means attractive and pleasing, rather than good in the moral sense. Of course, our deeds should be moral as well, but the emphasis here is on our works that help other people, that present the Christian life as attractive and pleasing to others. When you let your light shine, people will see your good deeds. The testimony of your life should match the testimony of your lips. That is what Legacy Church is doing. We are letting our good deeds shine out for all to see in this very difficult time.

These times:

This is a time, as we really seek the Lord, that He will speak to us and guide our paths. C.S. Lewis said, “Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”

Sowing and reaping:

God will not be mocked: whatsoever a man sows, that and that only will he reap. In other words, the world has sewn bad seed — murdered millions of babies, and adopted and applauded immoral behavior. At some point, there will be repercussions for such behavior. We may be experiencing a little of it now.

So, I believe God will speak to us through our fear and pain of what is happening with this coronavirus. And as He speaks, we will continue to let our light shine to the lost world by doing good deeds — so our heavenly Father will be glorified.

Perilous Times

Tuesday, March 17, 2020 7:19 AM
Tuesday, March 17, 2020 7:19 AM

We definitely live in difficult times. The Bible calls these days perilous times. The word perilous means hurtful, dangerous, unpredictable, uncontrollable, and high-risk periods of time will come.

The last days:

We are seeing we are in the last of the last days, right now! (2 Timothy 3:1). We are living out the Scriptures. We are living in a moment when no one really has any answers. There is no one to ask because in our recent history we have never experienced what we are experiencing in our world today.

No fear:

So, what do we do? Firstly, don’t panic: God has not been caught off guard. He knew this was going to happen. He knew that there would be tremendous amounts of fearmongering and overreacting, as people tend to do. Secondly, don’t be afraid: don’t live in fear, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. We are not to live in fear. We do need to use wisdom, but never fear.

The word:

We do not ever lay aside the word of God for any man, any government. It’s the word of God that lasts forever. The world doesn’t have the answers — they don’t offer any hope to the lost or hurting. Let’s seek God like never before. Let’s take what the enemy means for evil, and use it to do good. Let’s share our faith with others like never before. Let’s be the Church, and lead in these perilous times we live in.

It’s all a choice. I pray we choose life.

Separate Yourselves

Tuesday, March 10, 2020 7:58 AM
Tuesday, March 10, 2020 7:58 AM

In order to follow God, to accomplish goals, to be successful, we will have to separate ourselves — from people, entertainment, distractions. We separate ourselves — in order to concentrate, to do the work that will be required for us to follow God and be successful.

Change:

Nothing changes if nothing changes. What are some of the changes that you will need to make, habits you will need to break, thinking that you will need to change, to follow God and accomplish your goals?

In-law or outlaw:

Separate means cause to move or be apart. There is always a season when children separate from mom and dad. It’s for their good and health and well-being going forward in life.

We even need to separate from our parents if we are going to have a successful marriage. We can love our parents, honor them, but we must separate from them and cleave to our husband/wife. That means parents don’t get a say in our marriage unless we ask them. They don’t get to bad-mouth our spouse. If you are an in-law and you are interjecting yourself unannounced into your children’s marriage, then back off.

Health:

It’s healthy when kids separate from parents, just as it’s healthy for us when we separate ourselves from this world and its ways and philosophies — from the naysayers and the doubt peddlers. It’s all your choice.

Separate yourself from anything that is a distraction from serving God, and you will see it was well worth it.

Be Hopeful!

Tuesday, March 3, 2020 7:42 AM
Tuesday, March 3, 2020 7:42 AM

Hope is not a sedative; it is a shot of adrenaline, a blood transfusion. Like an anchor, our hope in Christ stabilizes us in the storms of life; but unlike an anchor, our hope moves us forward; it does not hold us back.

  • Warren Wiersbe

Tough times:

Although we may experience tough times, disappointing moments, heartache, we still can have hope if we believe. These temporary detours of suffering will actually strengthen our commitment to Christ and our testimony for Him. You see, as believers, we all have an incredible future with Christ in heaven.

Hope deferred:

Don’t ever allow your hope to be deferred. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life (Proverbs 13:12). No one likes waiting. It feels good to get what we want. But when our expectations are delayed, we can experience disappointment, disillisionment, and loss of hope. Waiting can become such an affliction to some that it’s like a lingering sickness. Even though things are delayed, we need to stay in faith, trust, believe in the word God.

A better tomorrow:

Our hope in a better tomorrow because we are born-again, saved by the power of God, and realizing our future home with God is very real, will help us to keep going. No matter what you face, remember we have a hope that never perishes. It is a shot of adrenaline to our minds.

Let’s never lose this hope God gives us, and when our faith is being tested, remember it is only temporary — it’s God’s kingdom only that lasts forever.

Procrastination or Anticipation?

Tuesday, February 25, 2020 6:33 AM
Tuesday, February 25, 2020 6:33 AM

One of the most harmful things we can do to ourselves is to procrastinate. Procrastination is defined as: the action of delaying or postponing something, putting off intentionally and habitually, putting off intentionally the doing of something that should be done. It’s a huge part of our culture.

Evasion:

Charles Dickens said, “Procrastination is the thief of time; collar him.” Abraham Lincoln said, “You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.” People do it all the time. In truth, we all are probably guilty of it from time to time. But it should not be our norm.

Postponement:

Thinking of the future as a future destination can cause us to remain stuck in who we are today. We think, Well, I’ll make changes in my life tomorrow. I’ll start eating healthily tomorrow. I’ll study more tomorrow. I’ll work harder tomorrow when I get that promotion. Don’t wait for tomorrow to become who God wants you to be today. We need to stop making everything in the future — from I will start working out next week and get in shape to I will begin today getting in shape.

Regret:

Procrastination has caused dreams to be unfulfilled, businesses to fail, relationships to end; because the things we know we should do, get done, are put off until it is too late. Then regret has a way of setting in. The opposite of procrastination is anticipation, dealing with beforehand. Let’s be people who get things done when they are supposed to get done. At work make sure we are meeting our deadlines. At home let’s begin today to be more caring and helpful.

If procrastination is an issue for you, ask God to help you, and begin to intentionally get things done.
