Christians Should Vote
Christians Should Vote
Have you ever heard it said, Two things you never discuss are politics and religion? It’s because it causes people to get passionate, angry, and upset. So, let’s just not talk about them. The problem is: these two things literally govern a society.
Political Season:
The word “politics” comes from the Greek words “politika polis,” meaning affairs of the city — a citizen (politician) who has responsibilities to a city. It can also mean the act of living together in a city, state, country, or community. So, we should discuss these things. We are in a very political season. The governor of New Mexico, state supreme court, and house seats, will be decided tomorrow, & more — the future fate of our state and country. So, I believe we must be involved by praying and voting.
The Issues:
Some will say, None of the candidates has or possesses my values, so I’m going to sit this one out. I don’t believe God ever intended His people to sit anything out. I believe one way we can decide is to base it on the issues. We have the issues of the family, abortion, the rights of the unborn, economy. So, I think this could be a way for all of us to engage. But to do nothing doesn’t help shape policy.
Values Voting:
We can influence policy and policy makers — from the governor of our state to the state supreme court. These people have an impact on all of our lives. Here’s one more way to look at it: which candidate will allow us to live out our faith and not come against us or pass laws that limit our freedom of worship and expression? Maybe that will help us all to register and pray and vote. We can influence policy if we are willing to do our part.
I don’t believe God would say He sits out (Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority, except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God — Romans 13:1), then ask us to sit out and do nothing.

Be Hopeful!
Be Hopeful!
Hope is not a sedative; it is a shot of adrenaline, a blood transfusion. Like an anchor, our hope in Christ stabilizes us in the storms of life; but unlike an anchor, our hope moves us forward; it does not hold us back. -Warren Wiersbe
Tough times:
Although we may experience tough times, disappointing moments, heartache, we still can have hope if we believe. These temporary detours of suffering will actually strengthen our commitment to Christ and our testimony for Him. You see, as believers, we all have an incredible future with Christ in heaven.
Hope deferred:
Don’t ever allow your hope to be deferred. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life (Proverbs 13:12). No one likes waiting. It feels good to get what we want. But when our expectations are delayed, we can experience disappointment, disillusionment, and loss of hope. Waiting can become such an affliction to some that it’s like a lingering sickness. Even though things are delayed, we need to stay in faith, trust, and believe in the word of God.
A better tomorrow:
Our hope in a better tomorrow because we are born-again, saved by the power of God, and realizing our future home with God is very real, will help us to keep going. No matter what you face, remember we have a hope that never perishes. It is a shot of adrenaline to our minds.
Let’s never lose this hope God gives us, and when our faith is being tested, remember it is only temporary — it’s God’s kingdom only that lasts forever.

Truth vs Absurdity
Truth vs Absurdity
When truth is removed, absurdity rules the day. Think about that statement.
Many truths:
There are a lot of truths in the world: the earth is round; we revolve around the sun at a perfect distance from it so we don’t freeze to death; we are far enough away from it so we don’t burn up. But there is “The Truth” that can be learned from the word of God only. God’s word (the Bible) is truth. It’s the final say! Or it should be, in a believer’s life. If it is not, it is not too late to allow it to be.
Many absurdities:
Without God’s truth, absurdities will rule the day. Absurd is defined as wildly unreasonable, illogical, or inappropriate, ridiculous. Absurd is contrary to reason, obviously and flatly opposed to manifest truth and common sense. This is what is happening in our state and country. The philosphy of this world is absurd — from destroying our economy and people’s lives over a virus to the continued murder of the unborn, to allowing the homosexual to recruit our children, from TV shows to the indoctrination of the public school system. It is just absurd.
The Truth:
Ever since this country has removed God and His word from the public square, absurdities reign. How do we ”absurdityproof” ourselves? By reading the word of God, acting on the word of God, and doing it. By hearing it consistently, it will keep us from buying into the absurd.
Stay strong and cling to the word of God. It will help you in every area of your lives.

To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice
To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice
As believers in Christ, our obedience is the main thing.
Trust God:
Obeying God’s word is of utmost importance. If we choose not to obey, it means we really don’t think much of God. To be able to obey God’s word, we must trust Him. Proverbs 3 teaches us how to trust God so we can be obedient. Verse 5 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Because God’s ways, thoughts, are higher than our thoughts, we must learn to trust, even though we don’t understand.
Only believe:
Do we obey or do we disobey? A lot of the time this question can be answered the same way: Do I have to fully understand to obey? The answer is no. We do have to believe and trust that God’s word is true, and God cannot ever lie. Trust takes place when we don’t fully understand.
Choose this day:
Obedience happens when we believe the Bible is the infallible word of God. We can obey it, even when we don’t quite understand why, because we have decided it is the word of God! We must all settle this in our hearts and minds. To be undecided will lead to disobedience, not trusting that what God says in His word is true. The way to remedy this is to purpose to do the word regardless of whether we fully understand it.
Be a doer of the word and not a hearer only.

True Freedom
True Freedom
Jesus said in John 8:32 NLT — And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. This is an incredible promise, especially if you need healing —whether the difficulty is an injury, illness, a financial hardship, troubled relationship, or anything else.
Belief vs truth:
Harper’s Bible Dictionary includes the statement when defining truth, “God is truth.” So many believe things that are not true. Truth is something that has to be known, not just believed. I can believe a lot of things that are not true. When I was a kid, it was believed that if you ate something, you had to wait around 15 to 30 minutes before getting back into the water because if you got in sooner, you could cramp up and drown. But now we know that is not true. It was believed, but not true.
His word is truth:
So, knowing the truth, is knowing God to some degree! We need to pray and read the word daily so we can know the truth. Things that are true can be proved. So, we know the truth that God is a healer. He heals, so we claim that promise. The way the truth sets us free from the bondage of sin is by our getting to know God better. How do we do that? By learning His word. That’s how we will know the truth.
So, let’s get into God’s word more — so we can really know the Truth.
