Procrastination
Procrastination is the sin of wasting — wasting our time and talents that God has given us. Procrastination : the act of willfully delaying the doing of something that should be done : the putting off of something out of habitual carelessness or laziness.
Diligence:
The Bible constantly speaks about being diligent. Colossians 3:23 (ESV) —Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord and not for men. God highly values our work and expects us to do our best with the ability He has given us. Proverbs 12 :24 (ESV) — The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor. You and I need to get things done and not get into the habit of putting stuff off.
Frustration:
Procrastination creates frustration and the sense of being overwhelmed, can cause discouragement and depression; the list could go on. Procrastinators are always looking to put things off until another day. The problem with that is we don’t know if we have another day on this earth. It also causes things to be undone, not finished, to pile up on us.
God blesses those who are diligent, faithful in the little things. So, let’s purpose this year not to be procrastinators, but diligent people, experiencing the blessing of the Lord. If we stop putting things off, we might even find our lives are much more peaceful and prosperous.
