Trust and Obey

God’s word is meant to change the way you think. The Bible will/should cause you to think differently.

Many voices:

There are so many voices out there trying to change your thinking, but only one that leads to eternal life and receiving the promises of God. When people say, “I serve God,” here is what they are saying, “My life is built on the word of God. No matter what subject, what I have been taught, or what anyone else says or thinks, it’s the word of God (Bible) that instructs my life, corrects my life, and encourages my life. It supersedes everything and everyone.”

With all your heart:

So, when you don’t get it or don’t understand everything, because you believe in God Almighty and you believe the Bible is the word of God, you simply say OK! Why? Because the scriptures tell us not to lean on our own understanding, but to trust in the Lord with all our heart (Proverbs 3:5).

His voice:

Listen, the word of God is meant to help you — never hurt you — to build you up, to encourage you, to instruct you, and to correct you — not because God is mad at you, but because He truly does love you and He wants the best for you. He is always working to convince you of that.

God’s word is right, and it is the right thing to do in every situation of your life. When you don’t understand — obey! It will help you.

Trust in the Lord

Monday, August 24, 2020 8:59 AM

The Bible teaches us that to obey is better than sacrifice (1 Sam. 15:22). The Bible also teaches us to not lean on our own understanding but to trust in the Lord (Prov. 3:5).

Obedience:

Today we must obey and trust in God and His word. Obedience is required when we don’t understand. There are so many things we are asked by God to do that we just don’t understand. But we do them because we trust God. We trust His word (the Bible) is true. Too many are leaning on their own understanding, so they are not obeying. They are going their own way — doing things their way instead of God’s way.

The highest way:

God’s word says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts”(Isa. 55:8-9 NIV).

The best:

So, in order to follow Christ, we must trust He knows best. So, when we don’t quite understand why He is telling us to forgive and tithe, we obey not because we fully understand but because we trust Him. Even when we believe we understand, there is always more to learn and know.

So, let’s be people who are purposing to be obedient and watch the blessings of God follow us.

For the Common Good?

Reaching people and telling them about Jesus should be the goal of every true believer.

Righteousness and truth:

Jesus saved us and changed our lives from a certain eternal death to an eternal life. He gave us this life to make a difference, to stand for righteousness and truth. Without these America will never get any better, only worse. We are called to be a light in a dark world. When we do this, the world won’t like it. They will attack, which they do. They will say awful things about us, which they do. But it doesn’t change who we are or how we choose to live our lives. What good is it to be the light if we are always hiding or afraid to speak up? Faith is active — it always does something.

Socialism:

We are hearing more and more from the world that it’s “for the common good.” Masks, vaccines, stay at home, don’t go anywhere, tell on your neighbor (which I believe is deplorable), don’t go to church “for the common good.” What we need to be careful of is that “the common good” is representing socialism. I believe the spirit of the Antichrist is working in our country and world right now (“for the common good”). Give up your freedom “for the common good”!

Spirit of the Antichrist:

1 John 4:3 NLT — But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.So many talk about Jesus, but are they telling you the truth about Him? That spirit is working in our country with the mantra “for the common good.”

We need to be careful and keep looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

One God

When it comes to serving God, we must allow Him to lead and guide us.

Idolatry:

The Bible teaches us we cannot serve two masters — we will hate the one and love the other, or love the one and hate the other. There is only room for one God in our hearts. When we try to allow something or someone to replace Him, it is called idolatry.

At times our emotions and feelings attempt to take God’s position as number one in our hearts. Because of our feelings we reject God and His word. We ignore what He says for our own sense of right and wrong. I believe it’s why so many struggle in their lives, especially in their walk with God.

Number one:

God first, only one God (The Father of our Lord Jesus). The Bible teaches us to remember the Lord in all we do, and then He will give us success. We have to decide who is first in our lives. We choose whom we will serve. Exodus 20:3 AMPC — You shall have no other gods before or besides Me.There is not room for two gods — only one. We all have to decide for ourselves whom we will serve. What we fight against is: who is in control, God or self?

Benefits:

See, pleasure is obtained quickly and benefits us now (or we think it does). The benefits of serving and loving God are often in the future. So, we all have to decide for ourselves.

My hope and prayer is for all of us to decide with finality that God is first, and we will serve Him — and Him alone.

Shame

Shame

Have you ever thought about shame? Shame is defined as a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior.

Shame vs guilt:

Shame is a negative feeling about oneself, where guilt is about one’s behavior. Shame means you have no value. The type of shame that you have no value is never from God. God knows we are made of dirt, and we will blow it, make big mistakes. Look at David, Peter, and Paul from the scriptures. They all made big mistakes, but it didn’t mean they had no value. If we would ever realize that God knows not one of us is, or will ever be, perfect, we would never allow ourselves to feel such shame that we have no value, or that God is against us somehow.

Value:

God has placed such great value on each and every one of us, regardless of our mistakes in life, even when we really blow it. We may feel guilty about our behavior and might even regret what we have done.

Godly sorrow:

Godly sorrow leads to repentance, but never are we to feel we have no value. God doesn’t want us to ever feel that way — regardless of what we have done. We need to remember God is always for us, you.

So, no matter what: keep the faith and keep seeking God. He is for you!
