Counter the Counterculture

As believers in the Father of our Lord Jesus and His word, we cannot allow ourselves to be indoctrinated by the world’s culture message.

Worship the Creator:

We are being bombarded continuously by a secular, anti-God message. This message is also teaching our children to believe less in God and more in themselves. The world is recruiting our kids to worship the creation instead of the creator. The world is lying to them about identity — who they are, how God made them — while the Church sits by idly and says nothing.

Rise up:

It is time for the people of God to rise up and be the salt and light we were called to be. It’s time we quit being ashamed of the gospel. It’s time we take our stand on the word of God and never back off. People need the truth. They need someone to care enough about them to deliver the truth — in a way that is kind but truthful.

Preach the word:

If people don’t repent and ask Jesus to be Lord of their lives, they will perish; they won’t make heaven. Through the foolishness of preaching men will be saved. Preaching what? The word of God! It’s God’s word that gives us freedom from sin.

So, let’s purpose to let people know who God is and what He requires us to do to follow Him. We must combat the lies from the world with the truth that comes from only the word of God (the Bible).

Stick-to-itiveness

Monday, May 2, 2022 8:36 AM
Monday, May 2, 2022 8:36 AM

In order to achieve anything in this life, we must be determined. Being determined is: having made a firm decision and being resolved not to change it; having made up your mind that you are going to do something and that you will not allow anyone or anything to stop you; not being weak or uncertain.

Purposefulness:

The only way to see your dreams and desires come to pass is to be determined. It’s making up your mind about something and sticking to it. When you are determined, it increases your chances of being successful. If you stay focused and keep a good attitude, you will eventually see your hopes and dreams come to pass.

Persistence:

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not: unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent (Calvin Coolidge).

Passion:

Whatever you do, do with determination. You have one life to live; do your work with passion, and give your best. Whether you want to be a chef, doctor, actor, or a mother, be passionate to get the best results. It’s the determined people who succeed and get ahead in this life.

Let’s all be more decisive with our lives, and watch what God can do.

With All Your Heart

The Bible teaches us to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts, and lean not on our own understanding.

Highest relationship:

So, what does it mean to trust God, to trust someone else? Trust is the highest relationship with others. It means to have confidence in, to be secure, to feel safe. It means you believe what they tell you.

Worldly trust:

In our society, it is hard to fully trust anyone or anything. Marketers are trying to get us to trust in their products. Politicians are trying to get us to trust them enough to vote for them. Spouses want to be trusted.

Biblical trust:

The Bible teaches us not to trust in man. Why? People will disappoint you; they will let you down. But God will never disappoint or let you down. Jeremiah 17:5 — This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.” So, we are not to put our trust in people, but in God. Now we do trust people. We have to at times. Trust people will keep their word, do what they say. But we shouldn’t put our trust in them to the point we lose our faith and our trust in God. That’s what happens to so many. Someone will let them down, and then they get mad at God. That’s what the Bible is teaching. Yes, if people have proven themselves trustworthy, great. But eventually people will let you down, even when they don’t mean to.

God is trustworthy. Let’s begin to believe everything He says, and learn to trust Him totally.

Cast Your Care, Not Stones

Wednesday, April 20, 2022 12:24 PM
Wednesday, April 20, 2022 12:24 PM

Listen, everyone has issues and there are always two sides to every story. We should always want to hear both sides before we make a decision or judgment about others.

The adulterous woman:

Jesus said, when the religious folks were trying to trap him concerning an adulterous woman, “He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.” No one threw any, nor should we. If we see a brother or sister fall or make a mistake, we should be there to help and encourage them, never to throw rocks at them, never to condemn them or act as if we have never done anything wrong.

Two sides:

And before you answer a matter, make sure you have heard both sides. Too often Christians throw rocks at other believers who may have come up short in some area of their lives. Aren’t we supposed to restore those who have sinned, come up short, made a mistake, done something wrong?

No condemnation:

The devil is the condemner of people, not we. We are to restore those, help them, encourage them, get them to repent, so they can walk with God.

So, let us choose to be more like God and less like the devil when it comes to our brothers and sisters who come up short from time to time in their lives.

Serve God with Fastings and Prayers

Monday, April 11, 2022 9:39 AM
Monday, April 11, 2022 9:39 AM

I want to encourage you that whatever fast you do, finish it, complete it.

Fleshly appetites:

If this were easy on our flesh, then everyone would do it a lot more. If you have never fasted, it will amaze you how strong our fleshly appetites are — how much of a struggle it is to deny these fleshly appetites. It will take discipline, will power, and God’s Holy Spirit to help you. Push through; don’t give up.

The bread of life:

The Bible says we don’t live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. The word of God will sustain you. So, while you are fasting, spend time — extra time — in prayer and reading your Bible.

To him that believeth:

Believe for something in your personal life — maybe a breakthrough in an area, maybe for a family member, maybe you need the wisdom of God. But believe for God to do something in your personal life. Then pray and believe for God’s Church (Legacy Church) to thrive and grow and reach more and more people with the gospel of Jesus Christ — that the lost would come in, that our church finances would increase so we can continue to expand His Church, making more and more room for the harvest of souls that He is sending us. Let’s believe God together for great things to happen in our personal lives, for the Church, and for our city.

Remember: finish it, no matter what. Push through and watch God move in your lives.
